 The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra

The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra was established in 1991 under the direction of Maestro Kerstein, Conductor and Music Coordinator. After its debut in 1992, the public fell in love with the Orchestra for its professional, high-quality performances.

Due to the Orchestra’s initial success, the City of Burbank began to fund the non-profit organization.  By 1994, world-renown musicians, including violinist Robert Cani and bass baritonist Richard Bernstein, were featured in Orchestra concerts.

In 1998, the Orchestra coordinated with the Walt Disney Special Events Group to feature music from Disney Classics such as “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Lion King,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

In recognition of the breadth and scope of the music performed by the Burbank Chamber Orchestra, its name was officially changed to the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra in 2001.

Anli Tong

The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra will feature Pianist Anli Tong on July 4th.  Praised by critics for her “pointed grace” (Los Angeles Times), and  “exquisite pianism” (Chinese American News), pianist Anli Tong’s concerts have taken her to three continents on the stages of such halls as the Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center, Taipei Symphony Hall, the Bordeaux Opera House, and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. As a concerto soloist, she has appeared with the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in the National Arts Festival, the Chinese Fine Arts Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Bratislava Chamber Orchestra, the Livic Chamber Orchestra and the Beach Cities Symphony Orchestra.  In solo and chamber music alike, Tong’s performances continue to garner critical acclaim. A recent performance of Chopin’s F-minor Piano Concerto was lauded for her “fluid power and stunning technique which lent crystalline beauty and sparkling dexterity to the work,” (Palos Verdes Peninsula News). Her acclaimed performances of the award-winning  Concertino for Piano and String Orchestra by Taiwanese composer KUO Chi-Yuan, which received its U.S. premier also with Tong at the piano,  was hailed as “the best rendition of this work” by Taiwan Symphony Review. Her performances of chamber music at the Getty Center was noted by the Daily Telegraph  for her “energy and elation” and singled out by the Beverly Hills Outlook for mention, which reported, “”there could be no faulting the manner in which it was played, pianist Anli Tong was magnificent, with particular attention to tone…”.
